The Top 5 Functions You Need on Your Website as a Small Business Owner

As a small business, your website should be an active marketing and sales tool for your business rather than an online brochure.  As a result, you will need to have certain functions on your website in order for it to make your website more of an active marketing tool for your business.  In this posting, I will discuss some of these top functions you will need on your business website.

1) Blog
If you are a business, small or large, this goes without saying….  If you want to get serious about your business, you will need to add something that says you are serious about your business.  A blog does this in a number of different ways:

  • Builds credibility and branding – a blog is a great way of showcasing your knowledge of your subject.  The platform allows you to share unique ways you have of approaching solutions to your target market’s problems and present them in a way that is going to connect more strongly with your target market.
  • Improves your websites SEO – Blogs are naturally set up to give your website better SEO, which in turn improves your rankings, and links coming into your website when you reference other blogs.
  • Conveniently adds fresh content to your website which keeps visitors coming back and the search engines happy.

2) Social Network Integration

Your blog should automatically update your social networks like Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.  Most blogs now have this capability.  You should also have social networking buttons on your website so it is easy for people to sign up on your social networks from your website.  There are many free scripts available that will allow you to easily add this functionality to your website.

The Power of Article Marketing & Using The Right Strategy

A brief blog about article marketing and my results with it.  Most people don’t get article marketing to work for them because they lose patience with it long before it can become effective.  In an experiment I did with a travel niche, I had written some original articles that were keyword focused, and used an article submitter service to distribute them to the different article directories.

I was looking at the traffic stats for my travel niche website and I happened to follow a link from one of the referral links to see where the visitor had come from.

Lo and behold, the page that visitor came from had a section that was an rss feed display of a specific keyword  search, and  the results in that feed were astonishing….  Out of the 8 results in that feed, 4 of them were articles that I had written.  How powerful is that?  The feed on that page was created from the top results of a search, that my article marketing did very well in!

Not only that, some of those results were of the same article.  How is that for the power of article marketing when you do it correctly!

On to more testing!

Jeff Paul Shortcuts to Internet Millions – Is It For Real?

I was up late to ungodly hours last night and happened to turn on the TV during infomercial smorgasbord time and this infomercial about earning hundreds of thousands of dollars on the Internet came on.  I was intrigued.  All of the sales triggers were there; beautiful babes talking about how easy it is to get started, lots of scenes of rich houses, fancy cars and beautiful beaches, money back guarantee, testimonials of people who went from dirt broke to driving corvettes and living in 10,000 square foot houses and the buy now and get something free call to action.

I have been connected with the Internet marketing community for some time now and I never heard of this guy.  Who is this guy?  He was talking about giving you 10 money making websites that are all set up for you and once you put them up, the money should just start pouring in!  $2,000, $10,000, $100,000, you name it!  How much do you want?  It’s yours through these web sites!

Well, I was curious and so I did a search on this guy and what I suspected was confirmed.  You do get money making websites, but the are all cookie cutter.  If you buy this package, your website is going to look exactly the same as every other schmoe out there that also purchases the same package.

The #1 rule in marketing is being able to differentiate yourself from your competition.  So how are you going to do that if your sites look EXACTLY the same as everyone elses?  With Google’s search results quality score, they are not going to list everyone’s site in the search results because of the duplicate content issue.  And that is if […]

How To Write An Article With A Powerful Title So You Get A Flood Of Traffic To Your Website

Writing and publishing articles are still very effective at getting exposure and targeted traffic to your website.  Not only is it an effective strategy, but it also a very cost effective way to drive traffic to your website.  When people read your articles, they learn more about you as well as learn more about what you do and how you do it.  Article marketing serves many purposes at once, however it is only as effective as your articles.  What does that mean?  Even if your articles are everywhere on the Internet, and you get some benefit with the links that go back to your site,  you won’t get any benefit with people going to your site who are not interested in reading your article, so the key is to also create an article that draws the readers interest.

The main purpose of the title is to draw people into reading your article.  What draws people into reading your article are titles that are catchy, stand out, and indicate what the reader will get out of reading the article.  Take this article for instance.  The title tells you exactly what you will get by reading this article.  If that is of interest to anyone (and if you are reading this sentence, it is of interest to you as well), then they will read this article.   A powerful and catchy title will, right off the bat, answer some very specific questions for the reader.  These answers will create a headline that “hooks” the reader into reading your article.

The first question you must answer in your title is “What is the main benefit the person will receive when they read your article?”  This alone is worth reading the […]

New Tactic Needed for Amazon Affiliates

If you haven’t heard by now, Amazon is changing their affiliate terms of service. They are now not going to give commissions on traffic that is sent to them from pay per click (or keyword bidding) traffic.

What is this mean? For one, it means that those people who were using programs like Google Adwords to send people directly to amazon are no longer going to be able to earn a commission.

This is huge news. Apparently Amazon had to compete too much with all of the affiliate marketers out there and they probably figured that they would still make more money by having to pay for lower keyword bidding prices, and not paying commissions, as opposed to having a huge drop in traffic if all of their affiliates who were using that method suddenly left.

Will some affiliates stop promoting Amazon products? Those affiliates that don’t know how to make the change will certainly stop because serious affiliate marketers will not pay for traffic to send it to Amazon for free.
