The Power of Article Marketing & Using The Right Strategy

A brief blog about article marketing and my results with it.  Most people don’t get article marketing to work for them because they lose patience with it long before it can become effective.  In an experiment I did with a travel niche, I had written some original articles that were keyword focused, and used an article submitter service to distribute them to the different article directories.

I was looking at the traffic stats for my travel niche website and I happened to follow a link from one of the referral links to see where the visitor had come from.

Lo and behold, the page that visitor came from had a section that was an rss feed display of a specific keyword  search, and  the results in that feed were astonishing….  Out of the 8 results in that feed, 4 of them were articles that I had written.  How powerful is that?  The feed on that page was created from the top results of a search, that my article marketing did very well in!

Not only that, some of those results were of the same article.  How is that for the power of article marketing when you do it correctly!

On to more testing!

Common Website Mistakes – Internet Business Strategies Radio Show

This Wednesday’s show was about common website mistakes that man webmasters make.  We had some good conversation and some questions from the audience about some of these common mistakes.  So what are some of these common mistakes?

  • Not making it clear to the visitor just what your product or service can solve for them instantly.  You only have a short period of time to capture their attention.  If you don’t make it clear within under 10 seconds just what you product or service can do for your client, then you are leaving money on the table…..  A Lot of money
  • Not giving them a clear call to action.  Don’t make your visitors guess what they should be doing next!  Tell them very plainly and obviously.  Explain it to them like they were 6 years old (of course without being condescending). You don’t want to make your visitors work to buy your product or service.
  • Difficult navigation.  There should be no more than 2 steps to get to anywhere from anywhere on your website.  Your navigation buttons should be clear and concise as well as very easy to find
  • Not realizing your visitors will come to your website from other than the 1st page.  You have to design your site with that in mind.  What if someone comes in on your about us page, or your contact us page, or some other non-product specific page?  How do you handle that?  How do you guide your visitor to where you really want them to be so they can take action?
  • Not surveying your visitors.  Your visitors will tell you what they want and 9 times out of 10, you will be surprised that you haven’t thought of it before.  The best […]

Internet Business Stategies Show – Web Design

On our strategies show today, we discussed web design and how that can affect the success of a website.  Some of the topics covered were Flash design and what are some of the best practices with using flash and when you should avoid using flash.  We also spoke about the difference between web design and web programming.

An important focus of the show was the importance of information design and strategy.  That is the concept of how you are presenting your information to your visitor.  How are you doing your navigation, how are you speaking to your target audience, an what kinds of graphics are going to support your message.

One of the most powerful concepts of the show was how we as website owners really need to design the site for our target audience and we sometimes forget that fact.  A great example that was mentioned was really understanding the kind of Internet connection your target audience would be most likely to have.  If most of your audience is still on dialup, then your site can’t be filled with huge graphics and sound files because your visitors will leave long before they ever get a chance to see your site.

Many other topics were covered as well and the file will be posted shortly.

Our guest speaker was Matt Weeden of Matt Weeden design.

Internet Business Strategies Show – Internet Law

This week we talked about Internet law and the things you need to know about with your web business.

Our guest was Douglas R. Griess  of Dymond Reagor Colville and he specializes in Internet law.

This was a very informative show because one of the most important things that came out of it is whenever you put your “shingle” on the internet, you are making yourself liable in the same way that a normal brick and morter business makes themselves liable.  Because it is so easy and so inexpensive to put your shingle out there on the Internet, anyone who wants to sell their book, or their knitting patterns is now out there on the Intenet and they really don’t have an idea of what they are making themselves liable for.

Some of the questions that were discussed were the following:

1.      What is internet law?

2.      On what areas of law should an internet based business be focused?

3.      How is an internet business different under the law from other businesses?

4.      What are the unique risks facing an internet company?

5.      How does one go about setting up a legal entity for internet business?

6.      How does one go about identifying and protecting their intellectual property assets on the internet?

7.       what are the basic steps an internet business should take to protect their intellectual property assets?

8.       Should internet businesses that link and/or refer to each other formalize such a relationship with a contract?

9.       What you should do if someone is defaming you via email or on their blog.

Jeff Paul Shortcuts to Internet Millions – Is It For Real?

I was up late to ungodly hours last night and happened to turn on the TV during infomercial smorgasbord time and this infomercial about earning hundreds of thousands of dollars on the Internet came on.  I was intrigued.  All of the sales triggers were there; beautiful babes talking about how easy it is to get started, lots of scenes of rich houses, fancy cars and beautiful beaches, money back guarantee, testimonials of people who went from dirt broke to driving corvettes and living in 10,000 square foot houses and the buy now and get something free call to action.

I have been connected with the Internet marketing community for some time now and I never heard of this guy.  Who is this guy?  He was talking about giving you 10 money making websites that are all set up for you and once you put them up, the money should just start pouring in!  $2,000, $10,000, $100,000, you name it!  How much do you want?  It’s yours through these web sites!

Well, I was curious and so I did a search on this guy and what I suspected was confirmed.  You do get money making websites, but the are all cookie cutter.  If you buy this package, your website is going to look exactly the same as every other schmoe out there that also purchases the same package.

The #1 rule in marketing is being able to differentiate yourself from your competition.  So how are you going to do that if your sites look EXACTLY the same as everyone elses?  With Google’s search results quality score, they are not going to list everyone’s site in the search results because of the duplicate content issue.  And that is if […]

How To Write An Article With A Powerful Title So You Get A Flood Of Traffic To Your Website

Writing and publishing articles are still very effective at getting exposure and targeted traffic to your website.  Not only is it an effective strategy, but it also a very cost effective way to drive traffic to your website.  When people read your articles, they learn more about you as well as learn more about what you do and how you do it.  Article marketing serves many purposes at once, however it is only as effective as your articles.  What does that mean?  Even if your articles are everywhere on the Internet, and you get some benefit with the links that go back to your site,  you won’t get any benefit with people going to your site who are not interested in reading your article, so the key is to also create an article that draws the readers interest.

The main purpose of the title is to draw people into reading your article.  What draws people into reading your article are titles that are catchy, stand out, and indicate what the reader will get out of reading the article.  Take this article for instance.  The title tells you exactly what you will get by reading this article.  If that is of interest to anyone (and if you are reading this sentence, it is of interest to you as well), then they will read this article.   A powerful and catchy title will, right off the bat, answer some very specific questions for the reader.  These answers will create a headline that “hooks” the reader into reading your article.

The first question you must answer in your title is “What is the main benefit the person will receive when they read your article?”  This alone is worth reading the […]

New Tactic Needed for Amazon Affiliates

If you haven’t heard by now, Amazon is changing their affiliate terms of service. They are now not going to give commissions on traffic that is sent to them from pay per click (or keyword bidding) traffic.

What is this mean? For one, it means that those people who were using programs like Google Adwords to send people directly to amazon are no longer going to be able to earn a commission.

This is huge news. Apparently Amazon had to compete too much with all of the affiliate marketers out there and they probably figured that they would still make more money by having to pay for lower keyword bidding prices, and not paying commissions, as opposed to having a huge drop in traffic if all of their affiliates who were using that method suddenly left.

Will some affiliates stop promoting Amazon products? Those affiliates that don’t know how to make the change will certainly stop because serious affiliate marketers will not pay for traffic to send it to Amazon for free.

What The Traditional Advertising Agencies Don’t Want You To Know

In today’s economic climate, can you as a business owner afford to cut back on your business? You are certainly cutting back on business if you aren’t investing in your marketing and advertising strategies. It is important, now more than ever, to focus on getting your message out to your target market and creating a stream of willing customers. Can you get the exposure you need for your business without having to put a typical advertising agencies on retainer? The answer depends upon what you as a business owner knows about the Internet.

Internet Advertising Is Effective

Internet advertising when done strategically, can be very effective for businesses to get their products, services and message out in front of their target audience. There are several online strategies that exist which include everything from blogging to web 2.0 to Internet radio and TV.

The most powerful Internet strategies incorporate a blend of these different online sources and also understands the nature of these sources and can use them effectively. For example, going on a standard social networking site and blasting your company advertisement all over the place will not get you great results. Building a business relationship with other social networkers will get you more favorable results from your efforts, but it does take some investment in your time.

Other methods of Internet marketing activities each have their own methods of producing results, and the ability to incorporate all of them into a sensible plan is the quasi art/science combination experiment that always makes life interesting

What You Should Look For In the Local Boulder Advertising Agencies

In today’s economy, companies are cutting back on everything including their marketing and advertising.  However, at a time like this, it is precisely when a company should increase their marketing and advertising efforts.  If a company just doesn’t have the income, then how can they get their message out to their target market?

The answer is Local Search advertising.  However this goes beyond just puting your business in some local Boulder directory and hoping you get traffic from that.  This is about putting your business on top for your targeted keywords in your local area.  It’s about dominating the Internet and the search engines and outcompeting your competitors when it comes to who your target market.

Partnering with a local Boulder advertising agency when you want to get your message out to your target market in Boulder is the way to go when it comes to using their expertise.  However, it is important that when you create this partnership, you must make sure that the ad agency in Boulder understands not only how to use creative (and legal) Internet marketing strategies to dominate the Internet, but they should also understand the importance of changing anything that is necessary on your web site to take advantage of the local Boulder Internet traffic your company will be getting in larger droves.

Using the Internet and local search is just one method.  To make use of other methods of increasing sales and income, not matter what market you are in, check out Ruthless Entrepreneurs.
